Duo Diavolo highlights the folk tradition that lives within classical music. Arrangements and original works color our programming and the music performed reflects our histories and cultures (Venezuelan/Spanish, American). With a partnership dating back to their student days at the New England Conservatory in Boston, Duo Diavolo, take listeners to the edge of their seats with music that traverses the emotional gambits of life: from Japanese meditations on the sea and the wild tangos of Argentina, to the exciting and intense Ragas of India and the playful Venezuelan Waltz. Orlando Cela (flute, Venezuelan cuatro) is a well sough-after flute player who has played in Great Britain, Venezuela, Austria, Spain, the Czech Republic, Germany, China, and throughout the USA. He has taught at the College of the Holy Cross, UMass Dartmouth, Central Conservatory of China, Northern Michigan University, and many others. He is equally comfortable with classical and folk music, and has performed with artists like Paula Robison, Samir Chatterjee, and Aquiles Baez. A pioneer of contemporary music, Orlando has premiered works by Salvatore Sciarrino, Anthony De Ritis, Maxwell Dulaney and Lei Liang, to name a few. Aaron Larget-Caplan (classical guitar) is a sought after soloist, chamber music, instructor and Artist Entrepreneur. He is on the faculty at The Boston Conservatory and University of Massachusetts, Boston. He has released two solo CDs and is featured on three others since 2006. He has premiered over 40 new works including 30 written for his New Lullaby Project. He is a graduate of the New England Conservatory where he was initiated into MPE Beta Chapter in 1998.
